His Lordship studied law at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. His Lordship also obtained a B.Com (majoring in accountancy) from the same university.
From 1978 to 1979, His Lordship was attached to a Public Accounting Firm in Sydney as a qualified auditor. In 1979 His Lordship was admitted as a barrister of the New South Wales Supreme Court in Australia. In 1980, His Lordship was admitted to the Sabah Bar and he practiced as an advocate and solicitor in Sandakan until 1992. In 1992, His Lordship practiced in Sydney until 1996. In 1997, His Lordship returned to Sandakan, Sabah and practiced as an advocate and soliciter in Messrs Peter Lo & Co until 2005.
His Lordship was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak in Kuching on 29th August 2005 and appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak with effect from 11th April 2007. His Lordship was the Managing Judge responsible for the implementation of the Sarawak and Sabah Court Computerised System and Court Recording System.
On 8th January 2013, His Lordship was appointed as a Judge of the Court of Appeal. On 27th April 2018 His Lordship was appointed to the Federal Court Malaysia. On 11th July 2018, His Lordship was appointed as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.
His Lordship is married to YBhg. Puan Sri Janet Wong Ying Kin and they are blessed with three children Davina, Daphne and Justin.
